Form Real Friendships at Royal Oak First

Vacation Bible School

Every summer we host Vacation Bible School for our kids, 2nd grade and younger. Over four evenings, our kids are exposed to Bible stories, music, crafts and activities to help them start to embrace their faith and know that they are each a child of God.

Sunday School

Four-year olds who are a year away from Kindergarten, through 5th grade, gather in The Village on our second floor for Sunday School at 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. We begin in Bible Times Square and then move to study the scripture through art, theater, science, or games. Week by week, the group moves to a different space to discover the scripture in a new way. The group focuses on one scripture passage for four weeks to ensure that the kids have experienced that scripture four different ways. Contact Christine Ryckman at cryckman@rofum.org or call 248.541.4100 for any questions. Nursery: Infants and Toddlers can be left in the care of the Nursery Staff in the Nursery on the first floor, just outside the Sanctuary. Parents can request a pager in case they are needed during worship. For more information regarding nursery care, contact Natalia Tovarez at ntovarez@rofum.org or call 248.541.4100.

Royal Oak Youth

For 6th-12th graders, join us for dinner and youth group every Sunday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Plan to participate in this weekly gathering where we grow closer to God and to each other through discussion, activities, games and food! We also have a summer service trip and a fall retreat each year. At various points in the year we add on a time of music, choir or handbells, so that our youth can perform in worship. To receive a weekly email with youth updates, email Bridget Nelson at bnelson@rofum.org or call 248.541.4100.

Summer Camp

At Royal Oak First, we have a long tradition of music for all ages. For decades, the children and youth of the church have taken a week away for Choir Camp. The tradition continues still as a wonderful week away at Camp. There are some pretty fantastic games, crafts, bible study, swimming and so much more. There is no better place to have a ton of fun and grow spiritually at the same time. We want to make sure that cost is never a barrier to participation in our church family, so camperships are available for church members and constituents if needed. The camp fee includes the cost of the camp t-shirt. For more information, contact Jennifer Tripoli at jtripoli@rofum.org or call 248.541.4100.

Holy COW (Church on Wednesday)

For all kids—infants through 5th grade and their families. Kids in preschool and older will spend time in devotions, musical activities and creative projects. Infants and toddlers spend time with a parent in Music Experience, a fun time of exposure to group songs and instruments. Holy COW runs through the school year and meets weekly on Wednesdays from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Family Ministries

For parents and kids of all ages and stages. Watch for special events for families to be in fellowship together! We will have family events, like our Christmas Cookie Exchange & Delivery. We will also have some activities for 3rd-5th graders. To receive a weekly email about everything happening for kids 5th grade and under and families, get in touch with Danielle Moody at dmoody@rofum.org or call 248.541.4100.
