(aka Rally Day)

September 7

Mark your calendars for Sunday, September 7.  Immediately following our final 10 a.m. summer worship service, join us for a special celebration as we sample and savor the various ministry opportunities available here at Royal Oak First.  Be here to taste the excitement!

New Member Class Offered
in September

Are you interested in joining the church?  In September we will be offering a 4-session membership class.  Class will meet on three Sunday mornings, Sept. 14, 21, and 28, from 9:15-10:15 a.m. and will culminate with a final session on Sunday, October 5, from 3-5:00 p.m.  Those interested in joining the church upon completion of the class will be received into membership on Sunday, October 12.  If you would like to be a part of this membership class, see Rev. John Hice or leave your name and phone number in the church office.

September Saturday Sweep
Saturday, September 6, 2008
9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

The Building and Parsonage Management Committee is planning its next Saturday Sweep session.  On Saturday, September 6, we will gather with a list of tasks designed to continue our effort to “clean and de-clutter” our house of worship and get it ready for the fall schedule of activities.  The format will be the same as the April session which attracted 42 volunteers, some of whom signed up to do specific tasks while others signed up to do whatever was needed.  The Committee is putting together a list of tasks needing attention both inside and outside the church.  You will be able to sign up during the Fellowship Time after Saturday or Sunday services in August or you may call the church office to volunteer.  Remember, liquid refreshments and snacks are available during the Sweep session.

The Committee is also looking into a program of continuing volunteer participation while working with a member of the Committee to maintain different areas of our building.  More information on how you can become a part of this program will be printed as the plans are put together.

Parents’ Night Out

A group of parents share a ministry to each other and to their children.  Parents take turns as caregivers so that other parents may enjoy a night out.  If you would like to participate in this meaningful ministry you can contact Brian in the church office or by email at BWright@rofum.org.

Sack Lunch Program Needs You!

Our infamous sack lunch program is “in the bag” beginning Tuesday, September 2.  We serve lunches Monday through Friday from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.  Volunteers need to arrive about 10 a.m. to bag the lunch items and possibly put on a pot of soup.  If you would like to volunteer for the lunch program – once a week, every other week, or once a month – please contact Delores Grier.

In addition to volunteers, we are always in need of items such as juice boxes, pudding cups, fruit cups, cookies, chips, and monetary donations.  We also need men’s jeans or khaki pants, socks, men’s underwear, and personal items like small soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc.  Any items brought for the sack lunch program need to be marked “sack lunch” and placed in the kitchenette off the parlor.  Monetary donations need to be taken to the office.

If you have any questions, contact Delores Grier.
