Michigan Concert Choir
Jan Bishop, director

The Michigan Concert Choir consists of sixty wonderful volunteers ranging from teenagers to septuagenarians.  They come together to rehearse beautiful music early each Saturday morning and enjoy performing for a wide variety of audiences in the community.  Although this group has a long history, dating back to the 70's, it disbanded for many years and was only re-established in March of 2007.  The choir is made up of Christians from several different denominations who seek to share good music and Christian joy with their neighbors and friends.

Sunday, December 14, 4:00 p.m.
55th Annual Feast of Carols

Royal Oak First is home to 9 vocal and handbell ensembles.  This special holiday concert is a chance to hear these wonderful groups share their music of the Advent and Christmas season.  A free-will offering will be taken to support the annual Choir Camp, sponsored by the Music Guild, held each summer for youth in grades 4-12.

Sunday, February 15, 4:00 p.m.
Praises and Prayers: A Recital of Sacred Song

Mezzo soprano Dr. Rachel Andrews will share music for voice and keyboard in a concert featuring composers Dvorak, Pinkham, Thomson, Bolcom and others.  Dr. Andrews will be accompanied by Dr. Craig Scott Symons on the piano and organ.  Both musicians received their Doctor of Music degrees from the University of Michigan.

Sunday, March 29, 4:00 p.m.
Musical Tales: A Benefit for the Royal Oak Animal Shelter

Detroit Symphony flutist Jeffrey Zook will present a concert to benefit the Royal Oak Animal Shelter in a performance of "Alex in Wonderland" - a kid-friendly journey through the world of music!  The Animal Shelter will be bringing information on adoptions and some special guests!

Sunday, May 17, 4:00 p.m.
